PEED Program: Providing Education & Early Detection
Improving the Greater Chattanooga region's understanding of kidney disease, risk factors, stages of disease, and treatment options, is critical to our mission. Our flagship screening program brings free kidney health assessments directly to communities throughout the Chattanooga area. Because 1 in 3 adults is at risk for kidney disease, early detection is critical. We bring our screening program to workplaces, churches, community organizations, and events throughout our service area. Contact us to schedule a free screening for your group.

An Interview With Milli Yium
Founder, Kidney Foundation of Greater Chattanooga
In 1973, Dr. Jackson Yium, a nephrologist, and his wife Milli, a registered nurse and clinical psychologist, came to Chattanooga to start a kidney treatment program at Erlanger and the UTC College of Medicine. By 1981, they recognized that medical treatment alone wasn't enough – patients needed comprehensive support to maintain their dignity and quality of life while receiving treatment. The Kidney Foundation was then established as a chapter of the National Kidney Foundation.
